“How to unlock bootloader and root OnePlus One?”
Reviewing OnePlus One, the specs are so amazing. After getting one, you must wonder how to root OnePlus One to exploit all your device’s potential. Rooting process will remove the factory and default restrictions from your One Plus One - each Android handset is coming with pre-installed restrictions which limits our access to the internal system of our Android devices. Therefore, after rooting, you can get the full potential of using your device. You can flash a custom ROM and kernel, remove bloatware, install some apps which need root permission, optimize the performance, upgrade the battery life.

Install Android SDK
You need to install Android SDK tool on your computer since commands to the phone from your PC via the USB cable uses Android’s SDK tool, in particular ADB and fastboot.
A. Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable.
B. Enable the USB Debugging mode by going to “Settings” -> “About phone” -> Tap on “Build number” 7 times.
C. Go to “Settings” -> “Developer options” -> check “Android debugging”. A dialogue box will appear asking you to authorize your computer’s RSA fingerprint. Click "Always allow..."
D. Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you put SDK tools for Android (ADB & fastboot).
E. Type the command: adb devices
Unlock bootloader on OnePlus One
Notice that unlocking bootloader will wipe everything on your OnePlus One. Please backup your device before the the process.
A. Turn the phone off. Then boot it into fastboot mode by holding volume up + power. The phone will display "fastboot" text indicating that it has successfully entered fastboot mode.
B. Plug the phone into your PC, then open a command prompt window and type: cd Desktop/android-sdk-windows/platform-tools
C. After your device has been recognized by the command above, go on to unlock the bootloader by entering the code: fastboot oem unlock
D. After the last step, please go on to enter the following code: fastboot reboot.
E. Here your OnePlus One will reboot. As introduced before, you have enabled the USB debugging mode. Now you need to disable CM Recovery Protection.
On your phone go to “Settings” -> “Developer” options. Then disable the “Update recovery with system updates'” option.
Root One Plus One with iRoot
This step must be the easiest one. You just need to download the one click rooting tool - iRoot on your Windows computer. And follow the steps below:
A. Download and install either version of iRoot, and open on your computer.
B. Connect your phone to iRoot. And you device will be detected.
C. Click “Root Now” to start the rooting process.
